Hi mribeiro01,
I can choose from; "bridged", "NAT" of "host only"
It is now on "bridged".
Is there is a VM-conversion tool from NUTANIX to VMware?
Do you mean from Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor to VMware?
// Linjo
yes
You can try to convert machines as powered on sources.
HTH
There is no tool that I know of, if the target cluster is also a Nutanix cluster you can use the builtin replication functionality to move the data over and then create VM:s and attach the diskfile.
Should be possible to automate with powershell quite easy.

Hi,
I have the error about VMware vCenter Concerter Standalone like the following:
Error:event.ReconfigurationFailedEvent.summary
When I try to convert the WinXP, it failed at 95-96%.
Now I use VMware vCenter Concerter Standalone 5.5.3 ver., vSphere Client 6.0.0, and VMware ESXi 6.0.0.
Already I have tried them like the following:
1. to use Converter 6.1.1ver., but its the same result.
2. As to check out the point of "Reconfigure destinetion virtual machine", it has completed but not started.
if you have any helps? thanks!
Hi,
This is another error when trying to convert another machine like the following:
fault:NoPermissionForConnection.summary
This error appears the scene deploying the Agent to the remote machine after Source System.
I guess the remote machine cannot install the Agent.
Now I use VMware Converter 5.5.3, Client 6.0.0 and ESXi 6.0.0.
The remote machine is WinXP.
Also I already have tried them like the following:
1.To use Converter6.1.1, but the same result
2.To uninstall the converter and any agent from the remote machine.
3.Fire wall is Invalid.
if you have any helps? thanks!
Did you check this KB - VMware KB: When using vCenter Converter the converter agent fails to install with an error
Check if server service is running on Remote system.
Try to manually install Agent and then run convertor process.
last option is to install and run the Convertor directly from remote system.
Thanks,
Haridas
The server is running Windows 2003 Standard with SP2. I tried installing 6.0 and Workstation gave an alert that I needed 5.5
Hello,
I was with the same issue. Check the version of your VMware Converter software.
I was trying by using the VMware Converter 5.0 and just reinstalled the VMware Converter 5.5. It worked to me !
I need to P2V a server that has recently had a lot of data deleted.
If a make my target disk thin provisioned, will the converter provision space for these unused but not zero'd blocks?
As a side question, does making the target thin instead of thick negatively impact the performance of the copy?
Yes. Use sdelete on Windows or dd on Linux to zero out the free space before running the P2V.
Hi there mate
Sorry for the delay we are in testing at the mo and I haven't been able to dedicate much time to this.
Any ways I got it cracked, I was testing on a 2k3 box where something like minitool would be essential to complete the cluster size change of the C:\ for the reasons given.
But when v2v-ing (with VM converter) a 2k8 or 2012 box the system partition is presented to the converter as an independent drive and therefore can be left @ 4k while the C:\ D:\ etc can be adjusted as required using the advanced settings.
So in the end you have a system with drives using the required cluster size and a bootable system...
just for future reference should it prove useful to anyone.

I attempted to convert a Windows Server 2003 server using the latest version of Conveter.
The conversion was successfull but toe converted VM goest in blu screen (BSOD).
Is it advisable to use an earlier version of VMware converter?
Which one? 4? 5?
Is it advisable to use any specific option?

Hi,
I have been reading a few documents online about P2V of SCO UnixWare 7, but they all seem a bit old now. The post I always seem to come back to is from 2009, and Cold Clone 3.0.3 from circa 2012, which had it's issues in ESXi5 and we are using ESXi6. Is there an "updated" way to P2V (cold clone) a SCO UnixWare 7 server to ESXi6?
Thanks in anticipation!
Kevin
There is no ColdClone from long time ago, you can try with latest Converter 6.1 and see how will work with your specific OS.
HTH
Thanks POCEH. The documentation for the latest converter only quotes Windows and Linux, no SCO UnixWare. Pity.
