are you choosing to thin provision the disk as it is imported? /home is 405GB? You could leave out /home for the conversion and rsync it afterwards. After all you are just really needing the OS the be...

Both disks are created as thick provisioned disks.

I always thin provision but it shouldn't be a factor in the success/failure. Attempt to leave the /home disk out and see how it goes. That's the problem disk anyways.

If your VM was created using the latest Workstation version you shouldn't use 5.1.1, but the 5.5 version to convert it. Check your VM's version first, if it's "VM version 10" the vCenter Standalone...

Specific error should be found in converter-worker log, could you upload log-bundle?Also you should check that user running the GUI has sufficient rights on your VM.HTH
