Hi Everybody!
I am totally new to virtualization and I'm going to add a new virtual server to our current domain. The end goal is to replace our current outdated Windows Server 2003 box. Before I attempt to go live with anything, I'd like to copy our current server into VMware to do some trial runs on the deployment. i want to make the transition as smooth as possible.
I downloaded and installed vCenter Converter Standalone version 5.5.3 build-2183569. When I attempt the conversion, it fails at 1% with the above error message. I've done some searching and I've found several posts about MS KB articles 940184 and 2009533. I've done everything in those 2 articles and I've verified that the VSS write lists exist. I've tried 6 times using different options for volume copying and I've not been successful yet. It's failed at 1% every time with identical error messages.
Any ideas? Unfortunately, rebooting isn't an option right now. If I have to, I can do a cold clone over the weekend.
Some more information about the server in question:
Windows Server 2003 R2
C: 1TB total space, 95GB used
D: 2TB total space, 600GB used
I am attaching the log from the converter and also the log from the server.
Thanks in advance!
