Re: ERROR abt Converter Standalone:Unable to reconfigure the destination virtual machine
Thank you.
As you say, I try to convert as administrator, but failed to reconfiguration too.
I have converted machine which is Windows XP, so it doesnot set UAC.
Re: Redeploy a Win Server 2003 to a new physical hardware
The licences are not managed by Converter but from Windows itself. In the worst case you'll need to re-activate Windows.

Re: ERROR abt Converter Standalone:Unable to reconfigure the destination virtual machine
This is very strange but as I recall there is an known error with Converter installed on non-english name folder.
If this is your case, try to install Converter on english named folder and try to reconfig only your VM.

Re: ERROR abt Converter Standalone:Unable to reconfigure the destination virtual machine
Now I use Converter on English but this error appears.
what do you mean "try to reconfig only your VM"?
Re: ERROR abt Converter Standalone:Unable to reconfigure the destination virtual machine
If only reconfig failed the VM is not deleted, so you can invoke "Configure" task on that VM, skipping the process of transferring data.

Re: ERROR abt Converter Standalone:Unable to reconfigure the destination virtual machine
Oh, ok.. already I tried it and it failed too.
why does it happen to fail to reconfigure?
If I stop some services, can it complete?
Re: ERROR abt Converter Standalone:Unable to reconfigure the destination virtual machine
What about non-english folder names? Including %temp% ones.
Re: RHEL 5.0 hangs at "Starting Udev" when booting.
Maybe you could try:
rhel - Starting Udev hangs at boot - Unix & Linux Stack Exchange
or:
Fix "RHEL: Kernel will not boot, system freeze at 'starting udev'" ~ GoLinuxHub
From what I found it seems to be a bug in RHEL 5:
convert Slackware Linux or just copy-move?
i have a 2003 server that runs Vmware Server 2.0 and host 2 VMs running Slackware 12 on a pretty old piece of HW.
I have tried a couple different times/ways using a converter, but says "
Unable to Obtain Hardware information for the selected machine".Logs don't give me much to go on.
Tried with vm off/on
Tried with older converter I could find 5.5 and newest 6.
Maybe I'm going about it the wrong way. What am I missing?
can I copy/move the folder with some hacks?
Re: ERROR abt Converter Standalone:Unable to reconfigure the destination virtual machine
what do you mean of "non-english folder names"?
why check a temp folder?
Exactly it has so many non-english folders, you mean it is one of reasons to fail to convert??
Re: RHEL 5.0 hangs at "Starting Udev" when booting.
Re: convert Slackware Linux or just copy-move?
Could you upload log bundle? The logs should contain some results of execution of sysinfo utility.
Re: ERROR abt Converter Standalone:Unable to reconfigure the destination virtual machine
This bothers only reconfiguration...
Re: RHEL 5.0 hangs at "Starting Udev" when booting.
This looks like a RAM issue. Trying running MemTest86.
Re: RHEL 5.0 hangs at "Starting Udev" when booting.
On physical Server it is running smoothly. We encountered this error on VMs itself during booting up.
Re: convert Slackware Linux or just copy-move?
here's the logs from 2 different machines.
I also tried to converting from a copy of the VMs. The screenshot is of the 2003 server of the services.
thanks
Source Parameters Invalid
Dear Friends
I have Acronis Backup of my PC and i saved as ".tib" file. Now i am trying to convert this Acronis backup to virtual machine.
But i am getting error message "The source parameters are invalid".
I am using VM ware standalone converter client v5.1.0
Kindly suggest.
Thank you.
Re: Source Parameters Invalid
The supported versions of Acronis images are described in User's Manual, check your version against them.
If the version is not supported - convert your VM/Physical as powered on source.

Re: convert Slackware Linux or just copy-move?
Both errors are similar: FILE: FileIO_Lock on '....\NS1-000001.vmdk' failed: Lock timed out
Are you trying to convert running machines? This is not possible, you should treat them as powered on sources or shutdown and then convert.
