One by one:

If your 3rd party image is not supported, then power on VM with your hypervisor and conver as powered on machine: exactly your case! There is no support for TrueImage 2009, so power the VM, get its IP and put the IP in 'physical machine' conversion... There is no other option for you, why you digging in this?

About Fusion: If the #7 is not supported, use #6! As simple as that! There is backward compatibility! Just use #6 then if you experience some problems - lets discuss them.

Why you don't run the test conversion and check the results? Your questions are too detailed but not for the essence of potential problems, just curiosity...
