Hi guys,
Does VMware Converter Standalone allow you to convert a physical Linux (CentOS) machine to a VMware workstation compatible virtual machine?
I'm running the standalone converter on Windows 8 and am hoping to make it the destination of the VM.
Unfortunately it won't stop giving me the "Permission to perform this operation was denied" error. I've tried running as Administrator, quadruple checking the root password for the source machine, disabling all firewalls, allowing root login, etc. but no luck.
Out of curiosity, I tried entering one of the IPs and Administrator user/pass of a Windows 7 machine on my network and although it didn't allow me to proceed, it got further (actually tried connecting) and gave a different error:
Unable to contact the specified host 'x.x.x.x'. The host might not be available on the network, there might be a network configuration problem, or the management services on this host are not responding.
I'm guessing that's because the agent is not installed...?
Anyway, if someone can help me I'll be your friend forever, this is driving me nuts.
